Marshall's CLEARANCE

I stumbled upon Marshall's Bi-Annual Clearance (according to the gal at the check-out) and got each of the candle holders and the jewelry box for $2.00 each.  The "window box" with 3 boxes inside was $3.00 and so was the glass.  I also got a designer hairspray for $2.00.   That was fun!

Blue Cheese Bites

I made these little gems with dinner this week.  They were DELICIOUS!  Here's the recipe:

BLUE CHEESE BITES
1 pkg. refrigerator buttermilk biscuits
3 tbsp. butter
3 tbsp. blue cheese, crumbled
Melt butter and cheese together in small saucepan. Cut each biscuit into 1/4's and lay in bottom of glass pie plate. Evenly drizzle butter and cheese mixture over biscuits. Bake 15 minutes at 350 degrees. Serve warm.

FREE Fabric Sample Books

CLICK ON PHOTO TO ENLARGE.  After reading a blog on THRIFTY MONDAY (Southern Hospitality Blog),  about the gal that got a FREE Pottery Barn Slipcover Sectional on FREECYCLE, I was immediately motivated to check the free section of Craigslist.  A local custom drapery store listed free fabric sample books.  15 minutes later I was at the store and they were helping me load them in my car.  As soon as I got the fabric I started crafting  FABRIC CARDS like MAD!!!  I'm having a blast!   Joey helped me disassemble the books, which was a strenuous job and perfect for a strong man!  I can't wait to show you my completed cards!  COMING SOON!

Lamp REDO

FREEBIE!!!!!!!!!!  I found this in the "free" area at one of my favorite thrift stores.  It was brass and really in bad shape.  I spray painted it in the same Satin Antique Bronze spray paint that I used on the hardware of my latest jewelry box redo.  I'm really happy with how it turned out.  We needed a small lamp next to the love seat in the family room.
FREE & and it only took 10 MINUTES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Vase REDO

This vase was lavender.  Erica (my sister-in-law) bought it for me about 10 years ago.  I brought it with me when we moved to Florida.  I decided to change the color today.  I spray painted it with Krylon outdoor in Aqua (like I recently used on the vintage jewelry box redo.)  I had a bunch of old tubes of paint that I used to paint the vines brown and the leaves brown, golden yellow and lime green (MY FAVORITE) and the grapes a mix of blue/red.  I'm thinking I need to figure out how to glaze the whole thing.  I've never painted anything like this before, so I'm happy with it as a beginner!  I'll gladly take any suggestions anyone has to give it a more finished look.

~ COZY COFFEE SPOT ~

Photo of the seating area in my kitchen.  CLICK ON PHOTO TO ENLARGE.  I drink my coffee here every morning.  I LOVE IT!  After a full morning of yard saling several months ago, mom and dad helped me move lots of furniture around.  I was inspired by these 2 bamboo shelves.  My mom had just bought them that morning at one of the yard sales.  I talked her into them because I thought they would be perfect for her.  WELL......  during the redesign I remembered the 2 shelves and she was ecstatic to give them to me for my Tracy Porter pottery collection.  Dad hooked the 2 shelves together and secured them to the wall.  Oh, and the bamboo shelves were only $5.00 EACH!

Thrift Store Finds Part 2

I stopped at my usual thrift shops this week. Yard sales yesterday were slim and the 5 that I went to were not so hot. I did get 3 little organizing bins and a clip board. No pics taken as they were not too exciting and the grand total spent was $1.00. Back to my thrift store adventures. These adorable BCBG flip flops were new and $2.00. I live in flip flops. The Ralph Lauren purse was $1.00 and new also. The little canister was $2.00 and YES, I found the matching plate to my floral bowl from last week!!!!!!!!!!!! It was at the same store that I found the bowl. The plate was $1.50. I just love the photo of the little "pile" of pottery collections from the last 2 weeks!  I'm participating in Thrifty Monday again.  On the southernhospitalityblog.com.  Thanks Rhoda!

Laundry Room

I spiffed up the Laundry Room last year. We had one cabinet above the washer. Our friend put up the 2nd cabinet above the sink and the shelf above the window. I also had him add the 2 small shelves below each cabinet. I love the green paint with the white cabinets. I found the exact size laundry shelf/sorter to fit between the washer/dryer at wal-mart. I made the window treatment out of small fabric pieces bought at yard sales.

2nd Vintage Jewelry Box REDO

BEFORE , DURING and AFTER. My 2nd attempt at re-doing a vintage jewelry box. I paid $2.00 for this at a thrift store. The little heart drawer pulls reminded me of Brighton and there is a heart in the center of the tall door. I did not care for the white flowers on the glass doors. I don't like the combo of the hearts and those flowers.

I removed all the hardware and doors and taped off the mirror. I sprayed the hardware and the jewelry box with Kilz. I spray painted all the hardware in Antique Bronze. Spray painted the box with Krylon outdoor spray paint in Aqua. All the fabric is high end from fabric sample books that I paid $1.00 for (entire book). Some of the fabrics are: Kravets Chasing Circles in "spa" and Kima in "glacier". The glass was covered with paisley patterned paper inside a scrapbook clear page. The patterned paper is from the fabric sample books! Is is interchangeable by easily removing the glass from the inside. The "C" monogram is a metal scrapbook letter spray painted in the bronze like the hardware. That is a dead giveaway as to who I made the box for! Hint: she can fill it with PANDORA.

Saturday Treasure Hunting PART 2

CLICK ON THE PHOTO TO ENLARGE.

After enjoying a wonderful lunch at the European Cafe' & Bakery my hubby suggested we stop at one of my favorite thrift stores. HMMMM.... of course I said yes before he could finish his sentence!!! We had spent almost all the cash we had at lunch. I thought they took credit cards and we only had $4.00 and change between us. At first all I found was the cute clay pottery floral/pink trimmed bowl. I don't recognize the signature on the bottom. But, it's a heavy little piece and in perfect condition. I don't know if you can see the tag, but it was 75 cents!

As we were leaving I spied a pair of lamps.... Very heavy and spa/tropical looking. They were $4.00 each and I saw the name on them "Pacific Coast". No clue about the brand. I took them up to pay the $8.00 and was told that there is a $10.00 minimum on credit card purchases. Quickly, I rushed back to the shelf that the lamps were on and added the aqua blue wooden nautilus ($1.00) it had the $12.99 Beall's OUTLET price on the bottom, and the lovely little set of wooden chinese bookmarks in the little red case ($1.25). My total on that thrift store trip was $10.25.

Back to the lamps! I looked them up online when I got home. I found 2 similar styles by "Pacific Coast" retailing $250 to $298 each! That added to the fun!!!

Saturday Treasure Hunting

Believe it or not, I only hit ONE garage sale today. There were not many in the paper today. But, one sale is all it takes to find some goodies! I spent $3.25 and got the Michael Kors brown blouse ($1.00), pink & white Chico's blouse ($1.00), food scale ($1.00), and the trio pumpkin halloween decoration (25 cents).

2nd Vintage Jewelry Box Redo

Found this vintage jewelry box at a thrift store for $2.00. These are my before pics. I'm planning a re-do. Can't wait!
